Flyer for Star Spangled BonanzaThe Foothill Orchestra is joined by the Menlo Park Community Chorus, Unitarian Universalist Church of Palo Alto Choir, Foothill College Choirs - Lydia Oey, Director of Choral Activities, the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office Honor Guard, and The Honorable Nicholas P Jellins, Council Member and former Mayor of Menlo Park will be guest speaker.  Maestro Gibson leads the orchestra and combined choirs in "Star Spangled Bonanza" in Smithwick Theater at Foothill College in Los Altos Hills on Saturday, December 15, 2001, at 7:30 PM . Tickets are $10 -- Call the BOX OFFICE at (650) 948-4444.

All ticket revenue from this concert (beyond expenses) will be donated to September 11th victims and heroes.

If you, your company, or family would like to make a donation to offset the concert expenses so that more --or ALL-- of the ticket revenue can go to those in need, please contact Michael Gibson.  You would be making a tax deductable donation to the Bay Area Music Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit California Corporation that sponsors the Tuition Scholarship Program and Mentor Program for the Foothill Orchestra.  If donations exceed expenses, the excess will also be sent to the September 11th victims and heros.

Description:

Music director, Michael Gibson leads the orchestra and combined choirs in

"Star Spangled Bonanza."

This will be a dazzling show beginning with the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office Honor Guard marching in the flags with the orchestra and combined choirs performing the "Star Spangled Banner" followed by The Honorable Nicholas P Jellins, Council Member and former Mayor of Menlo Park.

After a beautiful rendition of Yesterday by Lennon/McCartney played by Los Trombones, the orchestra performs Amadeus Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 22 in E-flat Major, K.V. 482 (from the movie Amadeus) with featured soloist, Susan D Williams.

After Intermission, Night on Bald Mountain by Moussorgsky grabs your complete attention. Relax while the soothing Pavane by Gabriel Fauré (sung in French) puts you into a dream state. Thrill to the exciting, pounding rhythms and beautiful love themes from the Polovetsian Dances from "Prince Igor" by Borodine with the MASS chorus, and finally, join in singing the "Battle Hymn of the Republic" complete with Honor Guard, spotlights, and red, white and blue stage lights. Be there, and help America at the same time!!!
